Senior Engineer - Civil - UK Wide

We are looking to strengthen our Engineering team with a Senior Civil Engineer based at a suitable location within the UK, with flexible working available.

At MWH Treatment, our Civil Engineers play a critical role in developing practical, sustainable and resilient infrastructure solutions that support the delivery of safer, smarter and more reliable water services for our customers and communities.

We are looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to lead civil design activities across major projects, delivering robust, buildable solutions that meet client requirements, regulatory standards and long-term asset performance objectives.

What you'll be doing

• Lead civil design tasks and packages to agreed technical standards, budgets and programmes.
• Develop civil engineering designs, calculations, layouts, specifications and technical documentation for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Produce cost-effective civil solutions that consider constructability, safety, operational requirements and whole-life costs.
• Review and assure civil design outputs within your area of authority, ensuring quality and compliance with company and industry standards.
• Coordinate civil design activities with Process, Mechanical, EICA, Structural, Digital and Commissioning teams to support integrated project delivery.
• Identify and manage technical risks, design issues and opportunities for optimisation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support the design of civil infrastructure including reinforced concrete structures, buried structures, drainage systems, pipelines, earthworks, highways and site development works.
• Mentor junior engineers, graduates and apprentices, sharing knowledge and supporting technical development across the team.
• Build strong working relationships with clients, discipline leads, project teams, suppliers and site teams.

Essential

• Strong experience in civil engineering design within the water, wastewater, utilities or a similarly regulated engineering environment.
• Good understanding of civil engineering principles relating to treatment works, pumping stations and associated infrastructure.
• Experience producing and reviewing civil calculations, technical reports, specifications, drawings and design documentation.
• Ability to develop practical, economic and buildable civil engineering solutions that consider safety, sustainability, constructability and whole-life cost.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams and supporting project delivery.
• Experience leading, checking or mentoring engineers within a civil or related engineering discipline.
• Membership of a relevant professional institution, ideally Chartered or working towards Chartership.
• Relevant Civil Engineering degree preferred, or a minimum HND in a related discipline.
• Ability to present technical proposals clearly, confidently and commercially.
• Computer literacy and a full UK driving licence.
