About The Role

Senior / Principal Structural Engineer

Location: Any UK location with flexible working offered

We are looking to strengthen our Engineering team with a Senior or Principal Structural Engineer.

You'll work on a diverse range of water and wastewater projects across the UK. You'll help deliver assets that make a real difference to communities and the environment.

Working within a Design and Build environment means you'll have the opportunity to see your designs become reality. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the UK and internationally while working on projects delivered through nine major water frameworks.

What will you be doing?

Structural Design

  • Produce structural design calculations for water and wastewater treatment projects.
  • Design reinforced concrete and structural steelwork in accordance with relevant Eurocodes and British Standards.
  • Review structural content of construction drawings and models.
  • Review subcontractor design proposals.

Project Delivery

  • Coordinate structural designs with other engineering disciplines.
  • Ensure designs consider buildability, standardisation and DfMA principles.
  • Support construction activities through technical advice and site visits.
  • Deliver projects safely, on programme and within budget.

Technical Leadership

  • Support and develop junior engineers.
  • Share technical knowledge and best practice.
  • Assist in improving engineering processes and procedures.
  • Promote sustainable and environmentally responsible design.

Collaboration

  • Liaise with internal and external project stakeholders.
  • Work closely with civil, mechanical, electrical and process disciplines.
  • Collaborate with our extended global engineering team in Pune & Singapore.

About You

What you will bring....

Essential:

 
  • Strong structural engineering design background, including technical detailing for Water Treatment and Sewage Treatment Projects
  • A proven track record of structural engineering within the water with a desire to work in a design and build environment
  • Good knowledge of structural analysis and ability to use Microsoft Excel and design software such as StaadPro and Tekla TEDDS
  • Degree qualified in Civil and/or Structural Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Membership of a relevant professional institution 
  • Good working knowledge of CDM and construction Health & Safety.
  • You will be required to travel within the UK occasionally either to an office or site.
 

Desirable

 
  • Chartered or nearing chartership
  • Good track record for the design of water retaining structures to construction standard using Eurocodes
  • Experience of working for a global organisation.
  • Experience of working with remote/dispersed teams. Experience in the Water/Wastewater Treatment Industry.
  • Ability to embrace collaborative and innovative working.
  • Knowledge of BIM procedures and techniques Wider experience of structural design across the construction industry
  • Experience of outline and tender structural design
